WHAT'S ONE STORY OR IMPORTANT ASPECT YOU ALWAYS TELL PEOPLE ABOUT YOUR TIME ABROAD?
I always tell people about the personal growth that will occur once placed into a more self-reliant lifestyle. More times than not, this can be one of the first times that students will be placed in a completely independent living situation, so learning how to buy food, cook them, and do all of the other things that are necessary to live on your own while also in an atmosphere where you don't understand the language and don't know what to buy is a daunting task that promotes growth and adaptation.
HOW DID YOU ENGAGE WITH THE LOCAL COMMUNITY WHILE ABROAD?
While abroad, I spent time with local university students, getting to know how they live life, an shared mutual pastimes of soccer together. Through these games, we learned more about what they liked and the things the cared most about, which really gave me a better understanding on the differences between our cultures.
