Before studying abroad, I had never traveled entirely on my own. While I had lived far from home and taken long journeys before with friends, being alone was a new experience. Solo backpacking gave me the confidence to pursue any goal without fear of the unknown. As I begin my adult life and career, I feel equipped with the experience and knowledge to move anywhere and achieve anything.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE CLASS WHILE ABROAD, AND WHY?
My favorite course abroad was Environmental Debates: People, Places, and Culture, where we explored Australians' relationship with the environment. Having an environmental studies background, I was thrilled to expand my knowledge in a new context. Many of my final projects were case studies based on different parts of the country. I was able to fund solo trips to these locations, gaining firsthand experience witnessing environmental solutions against pressing issues.
